LÄNSTRAFIKEN JÄMTLAND
Åre municipality is served by regular bus routes via Länstrafiken in Jämtland County. Go to the Länstrafiken website for time tables and download the Länstrafiken app for tickets and more (see below).
Ski Buses
The ski area operator SkiStar provides ski buses that operates the route from Duved to Björnen according to the lift opening hours. Your Ski Pass is your ticket to access the ski bus and if you do not have ski pass, you can purchase your ticket via the Länstrafiken app (see above).

The Bike Bus
In the summer season, bus 702 operates the route from Kabinbanan in central Åre to Sadeln (Björnen) and back. You can bring your bike on the bus and your Bike Pass is you ticket to access the 702. If you do not have a Bike Pass, you can purchase your ticket via the Länstrafiken app (see above).

Taxis are available in and around Åre for regular traffic, fixed-price transfers, freight delivery and more.

Car Rentals
If you arrive in Åre without a car and you want to rent on site, there are a few options available for you. Keep in mind to book your vehicle in time before arrival to make sure your vehicle of choice is available. Årebärgarn is located Järpen and rents out cars in case of accidents and to visitors. Cars are not available for pick-up at the Åre Östersund Airport however delivery to Åre/Undersåker can be arranged or otherwise by agreement.

Parking
Parking may be difficult to find certain times of the year but usually, finding a parking spot in the centre of Åre or close to the shops and slopes, is not an issue. It’s a good idea to check beforehand whether your booked accommodation also has parking, regardless if you’re renting privately or via professional rental companies and hotels.
GOOD TO KNOW
Parking in Åre is only permitted in parking areas marked with P-signs and almost all parking lots are subject to a fee.

EV Charging Points
There are plenty of charging points for your electrical vehicle on your way to and on site in Åre. Charging points are more frequent along the more heavily trafficked routes, like the E14 from Trondheim and from Sundsvall, but you can find them along minor routes such as the 321 as well. When on site, there are plenty of charging points that suit your EV. Many rental cottages and apartments come with the possibility to charge your EV and there are available spots at the larger parking lots around Åre, by the supermarkets and lifts. ¨
You might need to download an app to start charging your EV. Check and follow the instructions at the respective charging point. Please note that you might also need to pay a parking fee in addition to your charging fee.

RV Pitches & Parking
You can pitch or ark your caravan or mobile home in designated areas in and around Åre. The level of services, such as running water, charging points, kitchen and bathrooms, available may differ. The nearest station for garbage disposal and latrine emptying is available at the resting area in Björnänge, on the lefthand side eastbound along the E14. Please note that free camping, i.e. pitching or parking your caravan or mobile home outside of designated areas, comes with specific rules and regulations. There are also spots where you cannot pitch or park your vehicle overnight. More information is available via Visit Sweden>>
- Ristafallet Camping | 30 pitches. Most have access to electrical outlets. Free Wi-Fi, toilets, shower, kitchen, and washroom facilities available.
- Åre Gamla Kyrka | Parking available in the large car park below Åre Church. No services available. Parking over night is allowed from May 1st to November 30th. Subject to parking fees between 09.00 and 18.00 CET.
- Tännforsen | Limited pitches, shower and toilets available in the service house.
- Vällistegården’s Campsite | Drive E14 towards Östersund and turn off towards Undersåker. Cross over the railroad tracks and the main bridge. The campsite is on the left after the bridge. Services available.
- Årevägen 33 | Central pitch along Årevägen. Limited services available. Booking via +46 70 – 812 01 95.
- Åre Camping | Pitches for RVs and caravans. Service includes power and toilets. Book your spot via email: [email protected].
